They say 92% of people who set goals never achieve them. That means only 8% see them through.

Why does the 8% succeed? What do they do differently?

Here’s what I’ve discovered — and how I’m making sure I stay in the 8%. This tool is something you can use, regardless of where you are now — employed, scaling a business, or somewhere in between.


The Wake-Up Call

When you commit to growth, magical things happen:

  • You become wiser
  • You become smarter
  • You become more strategic
  • You grow self-awareness
  • You learn what works… and what doesn’t

Week by week, you evolve. But evolution without structure is wishful thinking.

So I created something I call the 20% Coach.

It’s a journal. But it’s not just a journal. It’s like getting coached by me twice a week.

It’s built around two big ideas:

  1. Week-to-week focus moves mountains.
  2. Distractions abound — you must prioritize the 20% that yields 80%.

What the 20% Coach Is

I didn’t invent it overnight. It evolved from a weekly “board meeting” I do with mentees. Over 3 years, I refined a framework so powerful, I knew it had to be shared.

Here’s the commitment: I will use this tool twice a week for the next four years. At that point, I’ll look back and see how far I’ve come.

Here’s how it works:

  • You set annual goals.
  • You break them into 90-day goals.
  • Twice a week, you journal — planning and reflecting.
  • You prioritize your top three goals and top actions.
  • You declare how you’ll show up — mindsets, beliefs, energy.
  • You reflect weekly on wins, lessons, and adjustments.

Let me break that down.


The Core Sections (What You Actually Do)

1. The Declaration

Right at the top you commit:
“This journal belongs to me. I’ve signed up for radical transformation over the next 90 days.”

You sign your name. You date it. You’re showing up believing everything’s about to change.

2. Annual & 90-Day Goals

Your year is mapped. Then your 90-day block is carved out. Your actions, week-to-week, align back to those big vision goals.

3. Personal Improvement Plan

Growth isn’t just business. We grow our minds, too.

  • Read 1–2 books per month.
  • Extract your top 3 lessons each.
  • Pick top 3 actions you will apply.

Small knowledge leads to big transformation.

4. “My Best Week Yet” Planning

At the start of each week:

  • Affirm: This week is my best one yet.
  • List top 3 wins from last week.
  • Set top 3 goals for this week.
  • Break each goal into 3 actions.
  • Schedule those actions in your calendar.
  • List how you’ll show up — e.g. energized, visionary, clear-minded.
  • Identify limiting beliefs you expect to surface, and prepare your counter-thoughts.

This is your weekly compass.

5. Weekly Reflection

At week’s end:

  • What did I learn about myself?
  • What worked?
  • What did I avoid or procrastinate on — and why?
  • If I could start over, what would I do differently?

Reflection turns experience into wisdom.


Why This Framework Changes the Game

Because you don’t just do things. You become things — smarter, stronger, more strategic.

By doing this twice weekly across 90 days, you don’t just grow. You compound.

Imagine:

  • Week 1 → Version 2.0
  • Week 2 → You build on version 2.0 to enter 3.0
  • Week 3 → You build on 3.0 → 4.0
